Agent sessions become a workspace

The Agents window can arrange chats side by side, restore layouts and connect multiple VS Code windows to the same session. A new /btw command opens a side conversation that shares the primary chat's context and prompt cache without stopping the main task.

Developers can also continue recent Copilot or Claude sessions created in other applications. That makes the session—not a single chat panel—the durable unit of work, which raises the importance of naming, review history and clear ownership.

Portable customization and provider choice

VS Code can install portable customizations that follow the Agent Plugins 1.0 standard. GitHub also says Claude sessions can switch between models from an Anthropic subscription and a Copilot subscription.

Portability is useful only when permissions and dependencies are visible. Teams should review every plugin's instructions, tools and network access before distributing it, and should test provider changes against the same repository task rather than assuming identical behavior.

Review and browser feedback get closer to the code

Conversation search, sticky prompts, Markdown diffs and resizable terminal output reduce friction in long sessions. Token usage by model is available from the response footer, giving teams a better basis for comparing cost with accepted changes.

The integrated browser now supports selecting and annotating multiple page elements so an agent can address UI feedback in a batch. Local HTML files can reload automatically, tightening the loop between implementation and visual review.

Adopt the workflow, not every experiment

Features such as the complementary-model /rubber-duck command remain experimental. Pilot them on reversible branches and require tests and human review before treating a second model's opinion as validation.
